The Scene
On May 26, a generation of people will gather
in one place, for a holy ceremony. They will gather, not to meet people
or sing songs or see a new part of the country, but to unite in worship
of their loving creator. They will be drawn together and bound by their
passionate pursuit of Christ, and for one solid day they will fall on their
faces before God.
And you're invited.
The Vision
In
1995, Passion founder
Louie Giglio had a vision. His vision was for a generation to gather,
united, to give praise and glory to the Father. That generation is the
one labeled "lost" - people between the ages of 18 & 26. The Lord
fulfilled that vision, and in just five years OneDay occurred.
This brought 40,000 students together outside of Memphis, TN in worship.
For a solid day, this generation humbled themselves before God. It was
the fulfilling of Louie's vision.
But it was not the end of the vision. We are being called to to gather
again. On Memorial Day weekend, in what will quite possibly be the largest
gathering of passionate followers in this age group, OneDay03 will
take place.
The Plan
Interested? I'm glad to hear that. I fully
expect OneDay03 to be a watershed moment in many people's lives. If you
would like to be a part of this experience, hopefully I'll be able to help.
I am organizing a trip to leave from the Rochester, NY area to travel by
van to Sherman, TX, so that people from this area can join in the corporate
worship that will take place there.
If you would like to join us, I am excited for your interest. Before you
make a commitment to come, I would like you to prayerfully consider some
things.
- Some people have gotten the impression that this will be happening
again next year. It won't. Passion seeks to move in whatever direction
the Spirit leads it, and it does not seek to be become a monument - something
static and, in time, ordinary. To make it a yearly event decreases its
value now.
- If you come from RIT's InverVarsity, this event conflicts with Basilea.
- I recently became aware that RIT's commencement falls on the Saturday
that we will be heading south. So, if you're graduating and you want
to get your piece of paper in person, this will be a problem. However,
I know some people chose to skip their graduation in 2000, because they
felt OneDay was more important. Talk to your parents about this one.
- This is something that is unlike anything that most people have encountered.
It's not a music festival. It's not a conference. It's not a hangout
time. It is a time to grow closer to the Lord, be humble, and
join tens of thousands of people in worship. It may not be for everybody.
OneDay03 is simply a chance to enjoy the presence of the
Lord. If you have considered this and believe that the idea of this gathering
is something with which you resonate, I encourage you to check out the
specifics on the next pages. There you will see the
itinerary, contact information, and other specifics. -->
